A&H Safari privacy policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Who we are
A&H Safari was made and is operated by Champlin Enterprises, LLC ("we", "us") for Adventures & Hikes, the safari company whose guide it carries. Champlin Enterprises, LLC is the party responsible for your data in this app.
Privacy contact: support@champlinenterprises.com.
The short version
- You can read the whole guide without an account. If you do, the app collects nothing and sends nothing about you.
- If you sign in, we store your email address and the things you choose to add: your trip, the animals you tick off, your journal entries and your photos.
- The app never reads your location, and removes location details from your photos before they leave your phone.
- There are no ads, no tracking and no third party analytics in the app.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app.
What we collect, and only when you sign in
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | To create your account and send you a six digit sign-in code. There is no password. |
| Name, if one is added to your account | To address you by name in the app. Optional. |
| Your safari records: your trip, sightings (which animal, when, an optional note), journal entries, photo captions and favourites | So the app can show your safari and keep it in sync between your devices. |
| Photos you take or choose for your photo journal | The photo journal. Uploaded as JPEG with the longest side at most 4096 pixels. |
| Device name (for example "Pixel 8") | Sent when you sign in, so your sessions can be told apart. Used only for the app to work, never for tracking. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, advertising identifier, usage statistics or crash reports.
Your photos
- The camera is used only when you tap "Take a photo". The app asks for camera access then, and not before.
- When you choose photos from your library, the app uses the system photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you pick.
- Before a photo is uploaded, the app removes its metadata (EXIF), including any GPS location and camera details, on your phone. Our server removes it again when it stores the photo.
- Photos upload over Wi-Fi unless you switch on "Upload on mobile data" in the More tab.
Where it is stored
- On your phone: your records are in a local database, and your sign-in token is kept in secure, encrypted storage (the iOS Keychain on iPhone, Android Keystore on Android).
- On our server: your account, records and photos are stored privately so they sync between your devices and survive a lost phone. Photos are never publicly reachable.
- In transit: everything is sent over HTTPS only.
- Sign-in email: the one time code is sent by email through the Champlin Enterprises, LLC mail service.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or any other purpose. The only service that handles your email address on our behalf is the mail service that sends the sign-in code. The app opens the Adventures & Hikes website in an in-app browser for journey pages and About. Those pages are subject to the website's own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. You can delete a single record, such as a journal entry or a photo, at any time. Deleting your account removes everything.
Deleting your account
In the app go to More > Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, every sign-in token, every synced record and every stored photo, from our server and from your phone, immediately. It cannot be undone. Sign out signs this phone out but keeps your records on your account. If you cannot use the app, email us from your account address and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to see, correct or delete your data, or to object to how it is used. You can delete your data yourself in the app. For anything else, email support@champlinenterprises.com.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the new version of the app is released.
